Church of Bas-Regie

The church is young with a membership of about 100 people and includes a school with about 60 children. A committee of five believers administers the affairs of the church. Pastor Leonard Pistais and the congregation are actively evangelizing in this harsh environment, having reached almost 300 people in personal evangelism by the end of 2007.

The congregation of Transformation Christian Church has partnered with this church, sending monthly financial support and other assistance. During the summer of 2008, they purchased land for a church building in the city of Belladere, near the Dominican Republic border. The church meets in a stick and straw tent, but they hope to soon be able to begin construction of a building.

In Spring of 2008, when they heard the news about protests in the streets of Haiti over drastically increasing food prices, the Transformation congregation reacted quickly. They were able to send a generous donation for food relief, which the GVCM staff in Haiti used to purchase rice, beans and cooking oil, which were distributed to the families of the Bas-Regie church and nearby communities.

We are so grateful for the generous support of this sister church in the States, as providing this kind of on-going support is vital for the Bas-Regie church to continue to grow and become a meaningful ministry to this poor area on Haiti's Central Plateau.
