Imagine
a place so poor and without resources that the deaf are all but
ignored...that you are ten years old and don't even know your own
name. This is often the world of the Haitian deaf child.
In June of 2001, GVCM conducted it's first deaf education efforts
with a one month school near Port-au-Prince. Children were brought
in from the countryside villages and taught some sign language.
The team experienced great joy with these children as they were
given tools to communicate for the first time, and the barriers
in their deaf world began to lift.
Can you help?
Due to the success of these efforts, future short term mission trips for
for deaf education are being planned.
Our goal is to connect mission teams with areas of need that their
skills can address on a schedule that works well for everyone involved.
